Through the implementation of racial segregation, there is a perception which forms regarding racial superiority. In America, Nathan Monroe Work identifies this perception and refers to it as “white stigma”. He explains that this stigma is seen when Caucasian history, achievements, etcetera is valued higher than those achievements or histories from people of colour. He suggests that African Americans should learn from Marcus Garvey and his position on African nationalism. Work explains the need for African Americans to seek and receive a cultural education on Black history and the achievements in early African civilizations. Work hoped to inspire cultural empowerment in African American society.
